super chouette
Gah, I've been so ridiculously busy - I really have to start updating more than once a month u_u;;;
Anyway, my trip to Earth-2 at the beginning of the month for Andrew's birthday was fun - he seemed to like all of his presents, and I got to eat mini-tacos, so all was right in the universe. He's coming up to Boston tomorrow for the holiday weekend, which will be a well-welcomed break from my costume work with my favorite person ever. Likewise, Jasmine & John are also coming up tomorrow for the She & Him show, so we're all [including Jake & Alicia, but they're a given] going on a super triple-date :D
When I got back from New York, I saw The Futureheads & The Like at the Paradise with Jess. Both of them were brilliant - The Like are my current band crush and dream band in one.
My Snorlax dress got its second wind of e-fame via Kotaku & ComicsAlliance. Insanity. I feel bad because I've gotten a lot of requests for Snorlax dress commissions, and while I would love to take these orders, I don't have the time to make them [given my full-time office job and my focus on SDCC costumes right now], nor do I feel nearly comfortable enough with my tailoring skills to make custom pieces for people that I can't do fittings for, in person. Likewise, I hardly have any time to resurrect my Etsy store just yet, so yeah, blerg. On a personal level, I have been experiencing an overload of craft ideas and things that I want to make for myself or my friends, and haven't really had the time to pursue any of these ideas yet either.
With that said, I've already committed to going to New York Comic Con [which is merging with the New York Anime Festival] this October by purchasing a weekend badge. Which means that I will be working on costumes for that shortly after San Diego Comic Con. Luckily, I think that I'm just going to wear two of my SDCC costumes and create one new costume for that con, so I'm not too stressed out [yet]. Andrew redesigned one of the creepiest characters in the DCU into a Bethany-ified costume. I rarely consider costume suggestions from others, since I have too many ideas, but the redesign is just that awesome. I can't wait to work on it!
Alicia and I made a trek to Osgood Textile to track down some things for our costumes. The place was absurdly large and yet, while we were able to find the fabric for AK's costumes, I still had to resort to ordering my fabric from Spandex House. Real life problems.
We saw Toy Story 3 two weekends ago and it was perfect.
We finally got around to filming and submitting our video entry for the SDCC Documentary [fingers crossed!]. I'll probably post it eventually, however seeing that we mentioned some of our top secret costumes, it'll have to wait until I've completed all of the costumes. Speaking of which, I need to dye my hair black next week. I already miss my red hair dearly.
This past weekend, while I was waiting for Meg for our crêpe date, these two women in Coolidge Corner told me that they were going to adopt me and put me in their doll collection.
And lately, I've been feeling kinda funny. I can't tell if I'm doomed or destined. That's really the best I can articulate what exactly this feeling is. It's not necessarily a bad feeling either - I just feel like I've been a bit disconnected, floating, and alone. Doomed or destined, I know that I have to get grounded and push myself. Once more with feeling: let's do this!

Andrew's presents were my travel buddy.

Andrew surprised me with a vintage Mego Robin doll as a 2-month anniversary present ♥
He's missing one of his oven-mitt-esque gloves, but Andrew ordered a replacement n_n;;

The dollar store turned my boyfriend into a dinosaur on his birthday.

To T4 or not to T4?

Out of the entire Toy Story Lego collection, I'd honestly be happy if I just had this one.

The crème de la crème of my watch collection.

In case you lost your Blue Lantern power ring, here's a more direct replacement. You just have to guard Sector Forever 21.

This shirt would be a whole lot better if it had the Anti-Life Equation printed all over it.

I must admit that the lack of apostrophe is kind of killing me.

Skunk mascot suit spotted in the window display of Marc Jacobs. I didn't realize that was there until I spotted the back of the skunk tail while I was making my purchase.

So it took me a while to figure out that this was Anakin Skywalker. My initial guesses were "an anonymous disenchanted Disney prince" (since there were some Disney princess dispensers nearby) or "Andy from Toy Story once he's older/hot, but decides to have a life outside of his toys."
I had no idea that they made a Clone Wars line. Pfft.
Anddd I modified the bow of my white sailor dress so that it will be ready to wear for the She & Him show ♥

Blerg, what a sad, flimsy excuse for a bow!

There we go. Much better!
And last, but not least:

A belated photo of my Ramona Flowers cosplay that Saki took at Boston Comic Con 2009 in October :D

I just checked eBay & the Lego website, and apparently, there are alien keychains! I wanna make a trek to the Lego store to see if they have any :D
A lot of people have been hating on Wonder Woman's new costume, but mostly out of fear of change, as most comic fans react whenever anything gets a makeover. From what I've read on the redesign so far, I really love that there seems to be a fair amount of thought put into the functionality of the costume, and I think that she still looks awesome. I do think that they could've done more in terms of a makeover [more detailing on the pants, for example, let alone they could've done something even more modern and fashionable], but I do think that this is a step forward in making both the readers and creators aware of the importance of costume design for these characters. And I kind of love the cropped 90's jacket too.
The Like were fantastic live! They were so cute and dancey - I really dig their new album to bits.
